‘Tu Web Accessible’ has recently renewed the portal of the UAL website, the main cover and the new sections introduced by the University of Almería on its website www.ual.es
The objective of this new project was to offer a renewed image of the main page, facilitating its usability and also improving its current accessibility.
This website, before being updated by us, suffered from various problems that did not make it an accessible website. To list some examples: it was not navigable using a keyboard, its menu was not accessible on mobile devices and, furthermore, the contrast of the links, sections and sections did not meet the minimum contrast established by law. A series of errors to which were added others more focused on poor structuring of the website and programming. All of this meant, as we say, that this main page was not accessible or usable.
Among the improvements that we have proposed, they have not only been focused on the new accessible design, but also on the new arrangement of elements. We have also sought to make it easier for the user to consult information, creating four personalized accesses according to the type of user.
Thus, we can find the ‘New Students’ access, which takes us to a page where a future student can consult all the relevant information about the university (degrees, faculties, courses, enrollment, scholarships and a long etcetera), while not being distracted by accesses that will never be of interest to them (such as calls, transparency, etc.).
Likewise, we have three more entrances. These are ‘UAL Students’ (for those already enrolled at the university), ‘Foreign Students’ and ‘Companies’.
Thus, we have composed a total of five pages of the University of Almería, the main page and four subsections, which improve the usability of the portal and, in addition, implemented respecting the accessibility criteria required by law.
