From Your Accessible Web we have coordinated a few days ago the creation of a new website on the occasion of 28F, Andalusia Day.
Step by step, the 28F website is really accessible…
First of all, when considering the development of a fully accessible page, we do it by dividing it into three phases:
The first phase that we have worked on in the development of this and many other portals is the design. In it we seek to propose the design of the digital portal and its sections with the help of an accessibility consultant. We evaluate the aspects that may affect accessibility such as, for example, colors, font size, arrangement of images and links, header structure, among other aspects.
When the design phase is validated, both in accessibility and in the design itself, the second phase called “layout and programming” begins. Within this phase, the ideal is for the programming team to have a guide to respect when laying out and programming the website’s content.
This will be prepared by the accessibility consultant, establishing the basic premises that must be respected when programming. These focus mainly on the use of correct labels such as the following: alt, aria-label, role, nav, h1-h5…
While the development department advances in the assembly of the new website, the consultant evaluates the adequacy of each of the pages created. In this way, the entire development is evaluated little by little, trying to correct all the errors that are found.
Once the website is completed, we know the percentage of its adequacy (which is usually over 90%), and some adjustments may remain. This is why a final complete audit is carried out with all the criteria in order to locate possible errors that have been overlooked in its programming.
Finally, after correcting these last errors, the audit is closed. Likewise, the accessibility declaration is carried out with the final result of the audit and the accessibility review report is written, which will be sent by the contracting client to the Ministry.
For everything you need to know…
We remind you that Your Accessible Web puts at your disposal an expert team in matters of accessibility, made up of auditors and programmers, who will carry out a complete analysis of your web portals, and will be in charge of their adaptation to the level of compliance required by AA, or will raise your digital platform to higher levels.
